Black Metal Cards

Producing a black metal card is a challenge. Unlike our coloured metal cards its not something that can be achieved by tinting standard stainless steel using electrophoretic laquer. So we scoured the planet for a supplier of high quality blackened steel. And we found one. Available at a thickness of 200 micron, these exclusive black metal business cards are truly exquisite. Using our photo-chemical production process, we cut through the steel and etch into its surface to bring your design to life. 

      State Of The Art Precision

Detail like text is chemically milled away from the card by applying a photo-resistive film to the surface and exposing the steel to acid.

The metals lighter core is exposed ensuring contrast and legibility. 

Cut-throughs are achieved by etching into the same position on the front and back of the stainless steel until the two areas meet.

Exclusive Black Stainless Steel

We have produced a wide range of coloured metal cards for a while, but we kept being asked ‘can you do black?’. Our usual process for colouring the steel involves adding a tinted translucent lacquer to the surface of the card. But without bending the laws of physics, creating a lacquer that’s both black and translucent is impossible. So we had to find an alterative solution. After much searching we found a supplier of blackened steel in Asia. Using their beautiful raw steel we etch and cut the artwork into its surface using the same methods as our regular metal business cards. 

Cut & Etch

Using our precision photo-chemical milling process, we can etch and cut the steel with incredible precision. This allows for intricate patterns, perforations and grilles. Rather than printing on to the surface of the metal, which tends to rub away over time, we etch the text into the steel itself. The lighter core of the steel is revealed providing exquisite contrast between the etching and blackened surface.  

Custom Shaping

Not only can we cut through the steel, we can also alter the shape of the card itself by cutting away metal from the cards perimeter. And as long as the desired shape fits within the dimensions of a standard card, there is no additional charge.

Free Design Service

Designing a metal card is no picnic. Creating a stunning layout whilst maintaining the structural integrity of the card can be challenging. Fortunately, we provide a completely free design service to all customers who don’t already have artwork. Once we have collected a few pieces of information, our design team puts together an initial concept. We then create a photo-realistic, digital mockup using our innovative proofing system. This shows how the card would look once produced. Using your feedback, we make revisions until you are 100% happy with the layout.
